If you are in the EU then legally, VAT must be added to the cost of any digital download purchase. Etsy are kind enough to calculate and collect VAT and send it to the taxman on my behalf. Therefore, all EU customers will be directed to my Etsy shop.
What format do the patterns come in?
Most of my sewing patterns and instructions come as PDFs which you will be able to access as soon as payment is complete. Simply save them to your computer and print!
I'm a beginner. Are any of your patterns suitable for me?
Yes! I will always state the sewing level for a pattern in its description. However, I provide very detailed instructions with lots of helpful photos so that sewists of all levels can access them. And whilst an overlocker would be useful for many of my patterns, it is not essential, and they can all be done on a regular sewing machine.
Can I sell items made using your patterns?
Yes, please do! Recognition of the fact you are using a Made by Jack’s Mum pattern, somewhere in your listing, website or Facebook page is appreciated, but not compulsory. There is no license fee for selling from any MBJM pattern. However, in the small print for each pattern I do make the suggestion that it would be kind to make a charitable donation of your choice instead of paying a license fee to me.
How do I use the ‘layers’ function with your patterns?
The ‘layers’ function enables you to select just the sizes you want when viewing and printing a pattern. To use it you must open your patterns using Adobe Reader. On the left hand side of your screen you will see a symbol that looks like two diamonds. Click on that and simply select the layers you require. Whichever sizes you need, make sure to also select the ‘pattern information’ layer. This contains things such as labels and page numbers. I always recommend printing from a desktop or laptop, rather that a phone or tablet.
What size paper do I need?
All of my patterns are formatted for A4, letter and legal sized paper. I work hard with my testers to make sure that people all over the world can easily use my patterns.
How do I know what size to make?
All MBJM patterns use the same sizing charts which you can access here. We strongly recommend you measure your intended model each time you sew and don’t just guess based on their age or what you ‘usually’ buy/sew.
Where do I access my patterns?
Once you have bought a pattern you will receive a confirmation email with a link. You simply need to click on the link to download your pattern. If you can’t find your email then check you junk mail folder. Make sure to save your pattern to your computer. When you buy a pattern through my website you will also have the option to create an account. Once you have an account you will be able to login any time and re-download your patterns.
